Snoring is such a common condition we often don’t think much beyond its nuisance value. However, it is often a sign of sleep apnoea, a serious condition where the walls of the throat come together and blocking off the upper part of your airway. These blockages can happen hundreds of times each night. They cause complications like daytime sleepiness, irritability, tiredness and fatigue.

Your risk of sleep apnoea is increased if your are overweight, drink alcohol or use sleeping tablets or have a sinus problem. Sleep apnoea also pushed the night time blood pressure higher, significantly making the risk of heart attack or stroke so much more likely.
