Dr John D’Arcy is Australia’s best-known media doctor and practicing physician. He provides an informed and common sense perspective on the medical problems that otherwise perplex us. Dr John is a graduate of Sydney University Medical School and completed his training at St Vincent’s Hospital and the Royal North Shore Hospital. John served, with his wife Wendy, in Vietnam from late 1974 until April 1975 with The Save the Children Fund at the Holy Family Hospital Qui Nhon.

John later worked in the UK and then in Papua New Guinea where he established the first private medical practice in Goroka. On returning he established a medical practice in Sydney before being drawn to television. John worked as a presenter on the Science shows Towards 2000 and its successor Beyond 2000.

Later Dr John was the first medical practitioner appointed to an Australian newsroom where his roles included being the medical editor of The Seven Network’s Sunrise and The Morning Show and as a presenter on The Sunday Night Show. More recently he has appeared on Channel 10 Sydney’s Morning Show.

He is a past board member of the Bowel Cancer Foundation, an ambassador for Australian Hearing, NPS MedicineWise and the Sony Foundation Australia. In this capacity he aimed to assist indigenous youth in fostering their unique talents.
